You hurt me so bad You were the best friend I ever had Now I'm crawling in my shoes Trying to get back to you Impossible love I just can't get to you Impossible love I'm tangled up in you You left me so long I can remember the times How we really cared All the dreams that we shared Impossible love I just can't get to you Impossible love I'm tangled up in you My life just goes on And what have I become? You were the only one You were my shining sun Impossible love I just can't get to you Impossible love I'm tangled up in you I just can't believe that it's all over I just want a chance to see you again To see you again You were my one true love

Funeral Girl 04:33
I knew a girl at the funeral She said she was dead She always said it would never work out I was a body at the funeral She had her hands all over me She always said we would meet again At night she whispered at the funeral Such fright, could thus really be the end? I always thought I’d be happy Layin’ in the casket at the funeral No one would comment at the grave She really said that she loved me It’s been a long time since the funeral I always thought I’d be remembered She’s laying flowers at the tombstone Next time you go to a funeral You may see her at the door Don’t mention me, she’ll get irate I love a girl at the funeral Everyone at my hometown knew about it They always talk about how it’s funny They really should do away with funerals You ain’t really dead, this I swear They take all your money and they leave you there to rot I love the funeral girl Funeral girl I love you with all my heart Funeral girl I love you from the start Every time I saw you it was really excellent Every time we touched, my funeral girl Funeral girl, I love you from the start Funeral girl, I love you with all my heart Funeral girl, may we never be apart My funeral girl Funeral girl, I love you from the start Funeral girl, I really love your art Nothing ever happens, nothing really matters much to me Eee oh oh woo oooh I love that funeral girl

Dream Scream 05:46
I'm having dreams about you I wanna scream about you Im having dreams about you I wanna scream about you Everything you have done You were the girl Who seemed to own the world Everything was about you I took a chance to call you my own I didn't know a thing about you Thought you could love What a fool I was Whats going on I was just singing my song Theres something mad about you I took it wrong You like my song Why couldn't I have you Crazy dream you done me wrong You left me long I couldn't stand to chance without you You said the love was dead And in my head I just couldn't believe it And on the phone you said You never knew me at all Thought there was love What a fool I was And everything was in hyper-jinx Just like an old time movie You don't understand Can't comprehend I guess it doesn't really matter And every dream a nightmare And nothing really matters I thought I was Loved What a fool I was Having dreams about you Having dreams about you Having dreams about you Having dreams about you

Love Forever 04:08
She's sleeping around Running all over town She's doubting it so She can't even smile She's thinking about She don't even know She's hating it so I can't let her go She's walking away I cherish the day We were together Fair was the weather We were running so fast There really was no past I'm thinking about our yesterday We were the best for each other We were in love forever I haven't given up It's been fifteen years I haven't spoken to her for so long We had it all Before we took a fall We really had love Though it's all gone away There's nothing to say There's nothing to do There's nowhere to go There's nothing to show There's nothing to know It's all been said Our love is dead

Cathy Cline 03:56

Davinare 03:14
March, Friday, or Saturday Art show night with Ron English Says I'm a worthless bum You know they call me a worthless bum You know I've had my share of chums But I'm a worthless bum says I You might thinking of davinare You might be thinking of things that scare Whatever you're thinking, I don't care To be stripped bare Worthless bum says I I never denied a precious gift You know I probably stole all my riffs But I'm a worthless bum says I Oh, can't you see? You belong to me How my poor heart aches Every move you make You know if things get out of hand You know I'm the one who understands Without or with you I'm just doin, doin fine You know I probably stole all my poetry Even they took the most of it from me But I will go on through the infinity Believing the lie Worthless bum says I You know that I hear is pretty good Understand I'm a worthless bum Worthless bum says I You know I never tried to rip you off Never tried to take your life Worthless bum says I If you were me And I was you Then everything's all right We're out of sight Worthless bum Worthless bum Worthless bum says I

Party 05:18
Don't wanna scare you Don't wanna waste you Just kind of like a show When you may find yourself alone with the Suicide rock 'n' roll We all stand amazed And often gaze at Those we love so true But you may take them all away As you stare into the mirror Sayin' hey, what does it mean To live in this world When we're all so very crazy And maybe There's plenty of time to party Party Party Everyone sues and sings the blues While deep inside our minds God keeps us happy with A little bit of love To comprehend as the road bends Showin' us life anew Some may say it's the same as any day But who the heck are you? Sayin' hey, what does it mean To live in this world When we're all so very crazy And maybe There's plenty of time to party Party Party A silly dream and after thought Plenty of those you got But when you find yourself In the rain There's no reason to complain Up in the morning, with the sunshine As the drama unfolds And you may find yourself alone with the Magic radio Singin' hey, what does it mean To live in this world When we're all so very crazy And maybe There's plenty of time to party Party Party There's nothing left of your depression As long as you're entertained Sometimes it's best just to lose Than to play the same old sorry game Love is alive in all of you And never will decay Another day or so, they say May all your dreams come true Singin' hey, what does it mean To live in this world When we're all so very crazy And maybe There's plenty of time to party Party, party, party, party, party, party, party Party, party, party, party, party, party, party Thank you

Memories like leaves are fallin' On the ground and soon to be forgotten We had it all for about a long time But the long time is far gone And the yesterdays have all faded away Yes, the yesterdays have all faded away Seems like not so long ago I kissed you on that Holy Night You seemed to like it You said there'd be trouble I really did love you Only because You were the girl of my dreams Girl of my dreams I had you in there in eternity Just you and me just like it was I know for sure you really did love me But then again, you acted bothered She had a split personality She loved me, and she hated me Must be some sort of mysterious love affair The monster and the girl Then one night when it was really over I told her that I really loved her She acted surprised and said "That's all right" She was the girl of my dreams Girl of my dreams And all along you knew my secret I was after love and pretty much desperate I kissed you once, and I was changed for life It was paradise, yes, and that's what I like You were my love Somewhat If only I could touch But once again, I remind you My love was strong, and only for you My only wish is that you love me true You really must get in touch with me soon You were my Virgin Queen of Rock 'N' Roll You were the girl of my dreams Girl of my dreams

Billions 07:11
Ahh There were millions of people And they all came to hear me play Billions and billions of people In the audience from all over the world I was a thousand years old Been playing rock and roll music all my life People like to come hear me rock Put on a show That night was special I was really feeling good I told them all I loved them And there’s nothing like rock and roll bizness Billions and billions of people Well my baby loves to rock My baby she’s my best baby Every bit a baby she’s a baby she’s my best baby When I met my baby I was just 19 I thrilled to my life I couldn’t believe her She was so beautiful I saw her with my eyes And I saw her and I wouldn’t leave her And I never forget her My baby My baby married an undertaker What grief My baby I always seen her When I was walking down the street In every house in every store In every mirror she was there Someday gonna get her Someday gonna have her Someday gonna get her That’s what I’m waiting for I’m gonna get her Gonna thrill to my life I’m going to get her

Thrill 03:22
She was a thrill, she took my will I would do anything to appease her appetite She was my love, I was amazed She would do anything to humor me in her way She was the one I chose At very first sight She took my breath away And led me to paradise Inside my mind, she was so kind I would unwind, she said the greatest lines And so I learned of many things I sat at the piano singing about her For a thousand years A cold, hard world was understood There wasn’t nothin’ That hadn’t passed my way I was still in love with her I didn’t know what to say Took a million miles get this far And though my love was inspired I’d see her again someday If I had my own way Oh what a dream it was A realistic dream Trying to remember her What was going down You were my star, you truly are You are everything I ever imagined so far At some of the best times we really had some fun We were just standing in line with a love most true I conquered her wicked heart I certainly must prevail Oh, what a turn-on I desperately can not fail Oh, oh what a thrill Oh, oh what a thrill Oh, oh what a thrill Oh, oh what a thrill Yeah
12.
Just then she talks too loud She says I’m not allowed To do this or that Nothing left to do Love never comes or goes Feelings never really show What will become of us? No one really knows She’s back in a little while Trying to make me smile I’m lost in the dark Walking lonely miles Seems how the years go by No need to wonder why Never had a chance to think It’s all over now… Memories were wearing thin I never wore a grin I guess I just forgot All had gone to rot Said she had wrecked my world My favorite darling girl Can’t find me a friend Guess I lost again
13.
She was only just a girly She was only just a girl There was sometime spent in heaven She was only just a friend Played piano in her basement She was only just a friend She was always looking at me She was always talking on There was some time spent in heaven I was always feeling alright There was always something to do There was some time spent in heaven She was always talking at me There was some time spent in heaven We'd drive around all the time We were always having fun We'd drive around to the movie theater We were always having fun There was some time spent in heaven We were always running around I knew for sure she was alright And somehow I had won the fight We spent time alone We had a good time

Wedding ring bells have got me down Wedding ring bells have got me the blues in this town She was young, and I was free I really thought that she could help me But the blues walked in, and I told her way back when I told her I can’t take it no more I just can’t take it no more Wedding ring bells have sent me to hell Wedding ring bells have got me the blues that might sell She was my love and I was her man We really seemed to understand But the blues walked in, some kind of family plan And I was out I just can’t take it no more I just can’t take it no more Wedding ring bells have got me sad somehow Wedding ring bells, all my suffering and how She was a beauty and I was in love I told her that I really loved her, what more could I do But the blues walked in, another man for her again Oh no, I just can’t take it no more I just can’t take it no more Wedding ring blues have got me paranoid Wedding ring bells, beware of the void (It could happen again) If it was love I was giving, all the music I was making I had to surrender to her evil game And the blues walked in, and I wanted to be famous So I went I just can’t take it no more Take it no more Wedding ring bells

I Lose 03:13
She invited me to a pity party Every hour everyone was making fun of me I told her it really didn’t matter You can’t imagine what it’s done to my personality I don’t know where she should go, but I lose Though I tried, like a lullaby, I lose Once I saw her in a crazy dream She was laughing, I looked the other way Then I find that she unwinds, she puts me down behind my back Everyone seems to have a love but me, it’s what I lack I’ve been denied the hurt inside, I lose Though she was barely a friend of mine, I lose I got left out of the “in” crowd They speak as if I was there They say the cruelest things, I seen their type A bunch of buttwipes that rule Don’t make sense, it’s really strange, I lose Though I try, there’s no sense giving up, I lose I walk the second mile, there’s no one there, I lose I pick up the pieces of my broken dream, I lose Everyone had their fun, I lose Yet she was a one of them from the beginning How am I to carry on, there’s no help given Then I realize it’s all reoccurrence What they’re thinking, their mind is a blur I seen the future, and I ain’t even there, I lose I see it all, and it’s really, the same old thing, I lose They think they’re smart, all huddled together, I lose One more time, I try to make it, I lose I lose, I lose Tell me about it, darlin’, now

about

Daniel Johnston in the 21st Century. Available for the very first time in 24bit lossless audio, each recording has been remastered from the original source tapes by Kramer (Shimmy-Disc founder and longtime collaborator of Daniel Johnston).

"Rejected Unknown" is now available exclusively here on Bandcamp, in 24-bit Lossless Audio, Remastered by Kramer from the Original Source Tapes.

The 2001 album was produced by Brian Beattie (Glass Eye) and was Daniel's follow-up LP to his only major label release, 1994's "Fun".

The title references the heartless decision by Atlantic Records to terminate his contract, and his subsequent struggles to be understood as a songwriter who had something vital to say to the world through his words and music.

Kramer says... "BRIAN BEATTIE was one of Daniel's most beloved collaborators, and his passionate work here as Producer/Arranger is outstanding, ranking this LP high atop the very best releases for both Daniel and Brian. It is a major masterpiece for both of them, and a milestone in American Indie Music."

100% of profits go to the Daniel Johnston Estate for the purpose of securing his musical and artistic legacy.
